Healthy Living Champions Award
For many years the Healthy Living Champions Award has been given to elementary schools in Middlesex-London for their outstanding commitment to physical activity, healthy eating and mental wellness using the Foundations for a Healthy School Model.
The award has been sponsored by London Life, Thames Valley District School Board, London District Catholic School Board and the Middlesex-London Health Unit. As a committee we would like to thank you for your ongoing loyalty and participation every year.
We are still offering schools a Healthy Schools recognition program but the process will change. Beginning this fall, we will be encouraging schools to register with Ophea’s Healthy Schools Certification. This new process will continue to support schools through the planning and implementation of their activities and strategies that promote well-being in the school community. This change in program and process will allow all schools across the TVDSB and LDCSB region to apply and participate, resulting in greater inclusiveness and consistency.
Your public health nurse is available to discuss the process in more detail and to review our Elementary School Toolkits. You can also find more information about the program at Ophea’s website at www.ophea.net.
