London, ON – Starting next week, the days and hours of operation at the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s remaining COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Clinic will be changing. As of Monday, May 1st, the clinic housed in the Western Fair District’s main building, will be open Thursdays through Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Since it moved from the Western Fair District Agriplex to its current space at the end of September 2022, the clinic had been offering vaccines Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Individuals who booked vaccination appointments for Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May, before the move to a new schedule was made, have had their appointments re-scheduled.
The Health Unit has already adjusted its COVID-19 vaccination appointment booking website (www.covidvaccinelm.ca) in order to prevent appointments from being booked when the clinic is not open. Appointments can be booked for those eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, or for those who require catch-up doses of vaccines required to attend school under the Immunization of School Pupils Act.
In addition to the mass vaccination clinic operated by the Health Unit, COVID-19 vaccine is also available through many London and Middlesex County pharmacies, as well as some local healthcare providers.
For the general public, the Health Unit continues to recommend a primary two-dose series of COVID-19 vaccine and a booster dose of vaccine for those who have already completed their primary series, provided they have not received one since September 2022.
Booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine are also recommended for the following groups, if it has been at least six months since their last dose or since they’ve had a confirmed COVID-19 infection:
- Those 65 years of age and older;
- Residents of long-term care homes, retirement homes, Elder Care Lodges, and other congregate living settings for seniors;
- Individuals who are 18 years of age and older who live in a congregate care setting for those with complex medical care needs;
- Those who are pregnant;
- People who are 18 years of age and older, who are moderately to severely immunocompromised; and
- Individuals 55 years of age and older, who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis, as well as their non-Indigenous household members who are 55 years of age and older.
