The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has been involved in conversations recently related to the planning of The Road to Rock the Park patio series. The Health Unit is committed to working with organizers to ensure that events follow the guidelines and comply with the public health measures set out in the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020.
London and Middlesex County are currently in Step 1 of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen, the Province’s three-step plan to safely and gradually lift public health measures. Movement through the reopening plan is determined by the Province and based on increasing vaccination rates and improvements in key public health indicators.
When it comes to matters related to the performing arts, Step 1 allows for outdoor rehearsals or performances for the purposes of recorded or broadcasted events, provided there are no more than 10 people participating. Spectators are not permitted.
According to the Province, once in Step 2, outdoor live music will be permitted with limits on spectator capacity and other restrictions. At this time, however, the Province has not provided details with regards to the capacity limits for outdoor live music performances.
The Health Unit remains committed to working with event organizers and venue operators to ensure that events are held safely and in compliance with relevant Provincial regulations and looks forward to reopening further, and to allowing for larger events.
