Cold Weather Alert Issued as Deep Cold Set to Return to Middlesex-London

Another deep freeze is poised to descend on London and Middlesex County. The Environment Canada forecast is calling for the mercury to plunge to -16 degrees C tonight and to drop even further to a low of -26 degrees C overnight Thursday. As a result, the Medical Officer of Health has issued the region’s fifth Cold Weather Alert of 2014. This latest Cold Weather Alert comes into effect this afternoon and will continue until Monday, March 3rd.

Latest Cold Weather Alert Lifted as Temperatures Climb Above -15C

The Cold Weather Alert issued by the Medical Officer of Health on Wednesday, February 5th and extended on Friday, February 7th has now been terminated. Current outdoor temperatures and those forecast by Environment Canada for the next few days are above the -15 degrees C threshold used by the Health Unit to issue a Cold Weather Alert.

Winter of 2014 Delivers Season’s Fourth Cold Weather Alert Of 2014

London, ON – The winter of 2014 is once again tightening its icy grip on the London and Middlesex region, prompting the Medical Officer of Health to issue this year’s fourth Cold Weather Alert for the area. The latest Environment Canada forecast calls for temperatures to drop to a low of -17 degrees C later today, and for daytime lows to remain below -15 degrees C through the rest of the week. A predicted daytime low temperature of -15 degrees C or colder is one of the Health Unit’s criteria for issuing a Cold Weather Alert. The alert comes into effect this evening and will continue through Saturday, February 8.


Break from Deep Freeze Prompts Health Unit to Terminate Cold Weather Alert

The Cold Weather Alert issued by the Medical Officer of Health on Monday, January 20th and extended on Friday, January 24th has now been terminated. Current outdoor temperatures and those forecast by Environment Canada for the next few days are well above the -15 degrees C threshold used by the Health Unit to issue a Cold Weather Alert.


Cold Weather Alert Extended For Middlesex-London

The Medical Officer of Health has extended Middlesex-London’s third Cold Weather Alert of 2014 until Thursday, January 30. Warmer temperatures are expected Friday afternoon and evening, but extremely cold temperatures will return on Saturday and continue next week.
