This workshop is targeted to individuals responsible for infection prevention and control activities in acute
care, long-term care and retirement homes. The goal of this workshop is to provide a review of current best
practices and to inform stakeholders of the latest information related to infection prevention and control
issues including Outbreak Management and Preparedness, VRE, Environmental Cleaning, Lab information as
just a few of the topics. There will be opportunities for networking, interactive participation and take home
messages from guest speakers that you can apply to your health care settings.
Topics to be presented include:
• Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus (VRE) presented by Dr. Gary Garber, Chief, Infection Prevention
and Control, Public Health Ontario
• Outbreak management and preparedness presented by Dr. Bryna Warshawsky,
Interim Medical Director, Communicable Diseases, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Public
Health Ontario
