London, ON – The Middlesex-London Health Unit is inviting local residents to tune in for a one-hour Virtual Town Hall on Monday, August 17th, starting at 7:00 p.m. The online meeting will include a brief presentation from the Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Chris Mackie, followed by questions from people in the community.
The Virtual Town Hall will be presented using the Microsoft Teams platform, which allows a large number of people to tune in for the presentation, and to submit their questions about the COVID-19 pandemic and the local response to the virus, electronically. Questions can also be submitted ahead of the Town Hall by email to health@mlhu.on.ca. Those who submit their questions by email should indicate “Question for Town Hall” in the email subject line.
“We’ve hosted pandemic-related virtual media briefings, as well as webinars for local healthcare providers and community stakeholders, for some time. With emerging issues like the return to classes in a few weeks and the coming flu season, we wanted to talk to the community and give them an opportunity to ask questions,” says Dr. Mackie. “We want to provide this opportunity so people can ask the questions that have been on their minds as we continue to live with the reality of a global coronavirus pandemic.”
A link to the Virtual Town Hall meeting will be posted on the Health Unit’s COVID-19 webpage at www.healthunit.com/novel-coronavirus. Anyone with access to the Internet can click the link to participate in the webinar; it is not necessary to download or install Microsoft Teams to follow the webcast.
