London, ON – Starting Monday, March 21st, the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) will change the frequency of its COVID-19 virtual media briefings. Rather than continue with the current Monday and Thursday afternoon schedule, the media briefings will instead be streamed live once a week, on Monday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. However, the briefings will occasionally be streamed on Tuesdays, when a statutory holiday observed by MLHU falls on a Monday.
The change to the schedule comes as the Province of Ontario continues easing public health guidance, including the end of its masking mandate for most settings on March 21st, and as fewer COVID-19 cases are reported the Health Unit. The MLHU is also in the process of initiating a shift in its COVID-19 response towards integration of the COVID-19 program into regular operations and reporting processes.
The Health Unit will continue to share regular updates about COVID-19, as well as any emerging urgent information, with media and residents of London and Middlesex County, as required. After two years of intense efforts to respond to the challenges of the pandemic and its associated vaccination campaign, the change also signals a return toward the Health Unit’s regular public health response and operations.
