In order to align with updated capacity limit requirements outlined under the Reopening Ontario Act, the Middlesex-London Health Unit is lifting its Section 22 Order for organized public events and social gatherings. This Order had been issued in September to re-iterate the gathering limits on social events and parties and is no longer required given the changes to provincial regulations.
On Wednesday, October 27th, the Provincial government announced additional amendments to capacity limits as outlined under the Reopening Ontario Act. This includes the lifting of capacity limits for organized public events held outdoors (such as outdoor parades, outdoor memorial services and other similar events) and requires a mask be worn if physical distancing of two metres is not possible. Capacity limits are still in place for indoor and outdoor social gatherings, and indoor organized public gatherings. Private social gatherings are limited to 25 people if held indoors and to100 people if held outdoors. Organized public events are limited to 25 people if held indoors.
“The Reopening Ontario Act still sets capacity limits for social events and indoor organized gatherings,” says Dr. Alex Summers, Associate Medical Officer of Health with the Middlesex-London Health Unit. “These limits continue to be important and will be enforced as we all aim to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.”
The Middlesex-London Health Unit continues to recommend that gatherings be held outdoors as much as possible, that people maintain two metres physical distance from others and that they wear a mask, whether indoors or outdoors, when physical distancing is not possible.
