With more than 610,784 doses of COVID-19 vaccine delivered since December 23rd, 2020 and the opening of mass vaccination clinics to walk-in traffic for first and second doses this week, changes are in store for the local vaccination effort. As of last Saturday, more than 79 percent of all those over the age of 12 in London and Middlesex County had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine; 56.6 percent had received two doses and are considered fully vaccinated.
Due to the acceleration of the vaccination program in the region over the last several weeks and the effort to have second dose appointments originally scheduled for August, September and October rescheduled to July, there is less demand for future services at the Health Unit’s mass vaccination clinics. As a result, the hours and days of operation at several of the region’s mass vaccination clinics will be changing in August:
North London Optimist Community Centre Vaccination Clinic:
- Will continue to operate seven days a week until July 30
- Clinic will be closed for the Civic Holiday weekend (July 31, Aug. 1 and 2)
- Clinic will reopen on Tuesday Aug. 3, and will operate Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- The clinic’s last day of operation will be Saturday, Sept. 4.
Earl Nichols Recreation Centre Vaccination Clinic:
- Will continue to operate seven days a week until July 30
- Clinic will be closed for the Civic Holiday weekend (July 31, Aug. 1 and 2)
- Clinic will reopen on Tuesday Aug. 3, and will operate Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- The clinic’s last day of operation will be Friday, Sept. 3.
(Please note that the Earl Nichols vaccination clinic will be brought back into service in October, if necessary.)
Caradoc Community Centre Vaccination Clinic:
- Will continue to operate seven days a week until Aug. 14
- Clinic will be closed Sunday, Aug. 15 and Monday, Aug. 16
- Clinic will reopen on Tuesday Aug. 17, and will operate Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Western Fair District Agriplex Vaccination Clinic:
- Will continue to operate seven days a week, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., through the month of August
The move is also consistent with Provincial direction to reduce hours at mass vaccination clinics in order to focus on reaching those who have yet to be vaccinated. As the Health Unit turns its focus to individuals in the community, the vaccination effort will rely on mobile and walk-in pop-up clinics, as well as providing opportunities to be vaccinated at community events.
