This year, and every year, it’s important that we observe Remembrance Day, honouring our veterans, those who have fallen in service to our country, and those who actively are serving.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the risks posed by events and gatherings, and the vulnerability of our elderly veterans to the disease, the Health Unit is recommending that Remembrance Day Ceremonies and events be held virtually or broadcasted for the general public.
How to watch the Remembrance Day Ceremony
Look to your local media and municipal governments for event information and where they can be viewed.

How can I show my support?
There are a few different ways you can show your support during this year's Remembrance Day.
- Watch the Remembrance Day Ceremony broadcast on television or online
- At 11:00 a.m. on November 11, publicly observe two minutes of silence.
- Wear a Poppy. Thank a Veteran.
How to stay safe
If an in-person Remembrance Day event is being held in your community, the safest way to attend is virtually. However, if you plan on attending, are invited to an invitation-only event, or are an organizer, remember:
- Stay home if you’re sick, even if you have mild symptoms.
- Older adults and people who have underlying medical conditions are at a higher risk of COVID-19.
- Outdoor events are safer than indoor events.
- Limit the number of people at the event. Please do not exceed the gathering limits (25 people outdoors or 10 people indoors).
- Maintain physical distancing of two metres at all times.
- Wear a face covering.
- Wash your hands or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer frequently.
