Revamped Website Connects Families With Prenatal Education Programs

Posted by on

Prenatal classes and programs are not just about labour and birth, those are just the beginning. Making the transition to parenthood is one of the biggest, if not the most significant, life change most people will experience; and now it’s easier than ever for new parents in London and Middlesex County to access prenatal education offered by the Middlesex-London Health Unit.

With the launch of the Health Unit’s revamped online prenatal registration process, expectant parents are just a few clicks away from finding the prenatal class of their choice.

“Online visitors will now have a better experience when browsing and selecting different prenatal program options from the Health Unit’s website,” says Tracey Gordon, Manager, Reproductive Health at the Middlesex-London Health Unit. “This will help first-time parents find the right class, at the right time, in the right location, without the added stress of navigating the web.”

Making it easier for families to access community resources and supports is important in helping parents-to-be make the best decisions for themselves and their new baby. Building a support network and meeting other families will help set their parenting journey on the best path.

The Health Unit’s prenatal education program helps prepare families for the challenges of labour and birth and the challenges associated with caring for their baby during the first six weeks of life. Through the various program options, parents-to-be build skills and learn about pregnancy; parenting; labour and birth; breastfeeding; infant safety; the changes that come after the birth of a child; how to adjust to becoming a parent; time management; ways to strengthen the relationship between parents; and much more.

The Health Unit offers three different prenatal program options: four weekday classes offered in London, two weekend classes offered in London and six weekday classes offered in Strathroy. The Health Unit also offers its Preparing for Parenthood Class over one evening as well as an online prenatal health eLearning program for parents unable to attend classes in person.
