London, ON – The London Middlesex Road Safety Committee will launch its new Share the Road awareness campaign this Thursday outside the Komoka Wellness and Recreation Complex in Middlesex Centre. The campaign is aimed at both drivers and cyclists and highlights the need to provide a space of at least one metre between bicycles and motor vehicles using public roadways.
The launch event will feature a demonstration that will allow members of the media to experience what a safety space of one metre feels like when they are on a bicycle.
There will also be representatives from The City of London, the County of Middlesex, the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, the Middlesex-London Health Unit, the Ontario Provincial Police Middlesex Detachment, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, London Health Sciences Centre, London Police Service, Can Bike London, the Canadian Automobile Association, the London Block Parent Program, Young Drivers of Canada, Western University and Fanshawe College.
NOTE: Please be aware that due to construction on Oxford Street West between Hyde Park Road and Sanatorium Road, it will take longer than usual if you are driving from London to Komoka for the Share the Road launch event. Please build extra time into your drive.
