City, Environment Ministry and Health Unit Responding to Findings of Elevated Trichloroethylene in…
London, ON - The Middlesex-London Health Unit, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) and the City of London, have advised residents in the area of Brydges Street, west of Highbury Avenue, of the presence of trichlororethylene (TCE) in the groundwater and soil near their homes. They also indicated they will soon be conducting additional sampling to assess the extent of contamination and to determine if residents are being exposed to non-residential sources of TCE.

The Cold Weather Alert issued by the Medical Officer of Health on Wednesday, March 4th has been terminated. Current outdoor temperatures and those forecast by Environment Canada for the next couple of weeks are above the -15 degree C threshold used by the Health Unit to issue a Cold Weather Alert.

Eighth Cold Weather Alert Issued for Middlesex-London
The Medical Officer of Health has issued the Middlesex-London’s eighth Cold Weather Alert of the year. The current Environment Canada forecast is calling for temperatures to drop to -19 degrees C tonight and -18 degrees C on Thursday night. This Alert comes into effect immediately and will continue until Friday, March 6th.

Seventh Cold Weather Alert Issued As Frigid Temperatures Continue
London, ON – With the current Environment Canada forecast calling for overnight temperatures of -20°C and wind chill values approaching -30, the Medical Officer of Health has issued the Middlesex-London area’s seventh Cold Weather Alert of 2015. This Alert comes into effect immediately and will remain in place until Monday, March 2nd.
Youth Call for Movie Rating Change in Ontario
London, ON – After last night’s glitz and glamour of the Oscars, youth from across Canada and the U.S. remind us that we need to protect kids from seeing tobacco use in movies. Nearly 94 percent (17/18) of the 2015 Oscar nominated films that featured onscreen tobacco were rated for children and teens in Ontario (G/PG/14A).
