Cold Weather Alert Issued as Most Frigid Temperatures of 2015 Descend on Region

The coldest weather of 2015 so far will bring a deep chill to the Valentines Day / Family Day long weekend. The current Environment Canada forecast is calling for temperatures to drop to -15 degrees C this afternoon with wind chill values approaching -30. With daytime lows expected to dip to the -20 degree C range for the next few days with bitterly cold wind chill values, the Medical Officer of Health has issued the Middlesex-London’s sixth Cold Weather Alert of the year. This Alert comes into effect this afternoon and will continue until Tuesday, February 17th, when the daytime high is expected to reach -8 degrees C.


Preliminary Test Results Negative for Ebola Virus Disease

London, ON – The Middlesex-London Health Unit is advising that preliminary tests conducted on blood samples taken from two patients currently in isolation at London Health Sciences Centre’s Victoria Hospital, have come back negative for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

Winter's Fifth Cold Weather Alert Lifted as Temperatures Climb

The Cold Weather Alert issued by the Medical Officer of Health on Wednesday, February 4th has been terminated. Current outdoor temperatures and those forecast by Environment Canada for this evening and tomorrow are above the -15 degrees C threshold used by the Health Unit to issue a Cold Weather Alert.


Show Your Support for Bill 45: Join "One Life One You" at the Skate to Advocate

The Middlesex-London Health Unit’s youth advocacy group, One Life One You, is calling on London and Middlesex County residents to stop by the Covent Garden Market tomorrow afternoon for the Skate to Advocate for Bill 45. Bill 45, also know as the Making Healthier Choices Act, 2014, was introduced in the Ontario legislature in late November and debate on the Bill began on December 3rd. If passed, Bill 45 would limit the sale, promotion and use of e-cigarettes; prohibit the sale of flavoured tobacco products and require menu labelling, including calorie information, on restaurant menus. After a Short Break, the Deep Cold Returns Through Rest of the Work Week

After a brief respite from the extreme cold temperatures which have provided a frigid start to 2015, the deep chill of winter returns to the London and Middlesex County area this evening. With the Environment Canada forecast calling for tonight’s overnight low to dip to -16 degrees C and temperatures expected to stay close to -15 degrees C tomorrow with windchill values close to -25, the Medical Officer of Health has issued the Middlesex-London’s fifth Cold Weather Alert of 2015. This Alert comes into effect this evening and will continue until Friday, February 6th, when the daytime high is expected to reach -6 degrees C.


Climbing Temperatures Lead To End of the Current Cold Weather Alert

London, ON – The Cold Weather Alert issued by the Medical Officer of Health on Friday, January 30th has now been terminated. Current outdoor temperatures and those forecast by Environment Canada for this evening and tomorrow are above the -15C threshold used by the Health Unit to issue a Cold Weather Alert.

Blast of Wintry Weather this Weekend Leads to Fourth Cold Weather Alert

Extreme cold will descend on the London and Middlesex region this weekend, causing daily low temperatures to drop below -15 degrees C for the next few days. According to the latest Environment Canada forecast, the mercury is expected to drop to an overnight low of -17 degrees C tonight, then close to -19 degrees C on Sunday night; in addition, temperatures Saturday and Monday nights are expected to be close to -15 degrees C. With temperatures expected to be below, or close to, the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s temperature threshold, the Medical Officer of Health has issued the region’s fourth Cold Weather Alert of 2015. This Alert comes into effect this evening and will continue until Tuesday, February 3rd, when the daytime high is expected to reach -8 degrees C.
