Health Unit Declares COVID-19 Outbreak at Clara Brenton Public School

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Clara Brenton Public School in London. As part of its investigation of cases identified at the school, the Health Unit has concluded that the virus may have spread between close contacts at the school who have tested positive. The outbreak is the first to be reported since students returned to in-class learning earlier this month.


Health Unit Advises of Bitterly Cold Weather for the Next Several Days

A bitter winter chill is descending on the London and Middlesex County area this weekend, with cold temperatures persisting into next week. Forecast temperatures are expected to be close to the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s threshold for issuing a Cold Weather Alert. The current Environment Canada forecast is calling for plenty of flurries this weekend, with a low of -11C on Saturday, and windchill values as low as -18, followed by an expected low of -14C on Sunday. The Health Unit is reminding those planning to spend time outdoors to take precautions and dress for the weather in order to avoid cold-related injuries.


COVID-19 Vaccination Effort Set to Expand into Middlesex County with Opening of Mount Brydges…

The effort to expand the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine in London and Middlesex County will soon take a big step forward. The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU), in partnership with the County of Middlesex, the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and the Middlesex Hospital Alliance, announced today that the Caradoc Community Centre in Mount Brydges has been selected as the site of the region’s second COVID-19 vaccination clinic.


Health Unit Reports Previous Case as School-Related; School and Child Care Data Once Again…

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) will resume reporting school cases on its Summary of COVID-19 cases in Middlesex-London dashboard today. The update comes as the Health Unit works towards full implementation of the Province’s Salesforce case and contact management tool, allowing for additional and previously available data fields to be added to the online dashboard. Beginning today, COVID-19 cases confirmed in elementary and secondary schools and child care settings will once again be reported on the dashboard’s School and Child Care tab. Outbreaks in these settings will also be reported on this page.


COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at Western Fair Agriplex to Resume Operations Next Week

The vaccination clinic located at the Western Fair District Agriplex will start up again on Monday, February 8, thanks to the renewed delivery of Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine to the facility. The decision to re-open is also in keeping with direction provided by Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to deliver the vaccine to those who are at greatest risk of being exposed to COVID-19. Starting Monday, healthcare workers who have been awaiting their second doses will begin to receive them, ensuring they are administered within 42 days of when their first doses were delivered. All those whose second dose appointments were cancelled will be contacted directly to reschedule.


Weekend Salesforce Outage to Prevent MLHU COVID-19 Dashboard Update on Monday

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is advising that there will not be an update to its COVID-19 information dashboard on Monday, February 1st. Because of a scheduled provincewide service outage of the provincial case and contact management system (Salesforce) from Sunday, January 31st at 3:00 p.m. until Monday, February 1st at 8:30 a.m., Health Unit staff will be unable to enter or extract local case and contact management data until the platform is up and running on Monday morning.


Changes Coming to COVID-19 Dashboard as MLHU Transitions to Salesforce Platform

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) transitioned its COVID-19 case and contact database to Salesforce, Ontario’s Case and Contact Management tool, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.


Health Unit Declares Covid-19 Outbreak at Piero’s Pizza After Staff Test Positive

London, ON – The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Piero’s Pizza, located at 169 Wharncliffe Road South in London, after four members of the staff there tested positive for COVID-19. The Health Unit was notified of an initial case at the business on Tuesday, January 19th and received reports of additional cases on Friday the 22nd. Health Unit case investigators have determined that three of the staff members worked while they were infectious.


Western Fair Agriplex to Temporarily Cease Operations due to New Limitations on Vaccine Supply

With the federal government announcement that there would be a delay in the delivery of the Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine to Canada, and the limited local vaccine stock that remains, the difficult decision has been made to cease operations at the Western Fair District Agriplex for at least two weeks, as of the end of day, Friday, January 22nd. The Middlesex-London Health Unit will continue to complete the vaccination of eligible long-term care home residents with remaining stock by the end of the week. Given the limited supply, and in keeping with direction from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, effective immediately, all second doses of vaccine for those who have received their first dose will be rescheduled to 42 days from the date they received their initial dose.
