Customers Advised to Monitor for Symptoms After Superstore Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

London, ON – The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) received a report late yesterday that an employee of the Real Canadian Superstore, located at 825 Oxford Street East in London, has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is a food handler in the store’s bakery who worked between Wednesday, May 20th and Saturday, May 23rd. Store management has advised that thorough cleaning and sanitization have taken place. Another staff member at the store tested positive for the novel coronavirus on April 29th.


Carling Heights Assessment Centre Remains Open Over May Long Weekend

LONDON, ON – The COVID-19 Assessment Centre at Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre (CHOCC), located at 656 Elizabeth Street in London, will be open this long weekend, May 16, 17 and 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Assessment Centre at Oakridge Arena will not be open Saturday or Sunday, but will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2020.


Health Unit Advises Superstore Customers to Take Self-Assessment

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) was notified late yesterday about a positive case of COVID-19 diagnosed in an employee of the Real Canadian Superstore, located at 825 Oxford Street East in London. The employee is a food handler who works in the store’s bakery with bread products. They have not worked at the grocery store since April 26th. Store management has advised MLHU staff that a thorough cleaning and sanitization have taken place.


Health Unit Reports 14 New Covid-19 Cases At Grand Wood Park Retirement Residence

London, ON – The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported today that it has received confirmation of 14 new cases of COVID-19 at London’s Grand Wood Park Retirement Residence. The announcement comes after Health Unit staff had directed the facility to test all staff and residents as part of the outbreak management process recently put in place as a result of new guidance from the Ministry of Health. A COVID-19 outbreak had been declared at Grand Wood Park on March 31st, after two residents there tested positive at the same time. COVID-19 outbreaks are declared at long-term care homes and retirement residences once a single case of the infection has been confirmed within a given facility.


Health Unit Completes Move To Citi Plaza On Time In Spite Of Pandemic

The Middlesex-London Health Unit will reach a significant milestone when the Board of Health meets this Thursday evening. After a process that began in 2015, the Board will consider a recommendation to disband its Relocation Advisory Committee, marking the final step in the Health Unit’s move to its new home at downtown London’s Citi Plaza.

Updated Hours of Operation For Oakridge Arena Assessment Centre

The Oakridge Arena COVID-19 Assessment Centre’s hours of operation are changing this week. The Assessment Centre will no longer be open weekends but will continue to offer assessment services Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The COVID-19 Assessment Centre at Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre (CHOCC), located at 656 Elizabeth Street in London, will remain open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.


Health Unit Reports Highest Number of New Cases in Local Fight Against COVID-19

London, ON – The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported today that it had received confirmation of 15 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 52. The Health Unit also advised that two people known to have the virus have died, increasing the number of local COVID-19 deaths to three. The new cases include two people with a recent history of travel, two people who are close contacts of previously reported COVID-19 cases and 11 people whose source of infection is still under investigation. The number of new cases announced today comes as laboratories have been able to clear what had been a backlog of tests that had been pending. The Health Unit indicated that the deaths were those of a woman in her 90s and a woman in her 80s.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has moved to Citi Plaza! The Health Unit’s main office is now located at 355 Wellington St., London, ON (inside Citi Plaza) and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Physical Distancing is Key in COVID-19 Fight as Six New Local Cases Reported

The Middlesex-London Health Unit announced six new cases of the novel coronavirus today, bringing the local number of those infected to 31. Among the new cases are four people who have travelled recently, a close contact of another case and an individual who lives in a long-term care home. Health Unit staff have been communicating with all six individuals and are following up with their close contacts as part of the on-going case investigations.
